As soon as you give me the go-ahead - and provided I’m not already working on another project - I’ll get started right away. Since I’m not working as a full-time artist at the moment and will soon be welcoming my little daughter, I’m currently planning for about one extra month of creation time.
Depending on the size of your artwork, you can expect it to take around 4 to 10 months to finish. Keep in mind that oil paintings have their own drying rhythm: while the surface is touch-dry after a few weeks, it can take up to a year (depending on paint thickness, conditions, etc.) until it’s completely dry. An intermediate varnish can be applied about 4 - 6 months after completion. If you’d like your painting right after it’s finished, without varnish, we just need to wait until it’s at least touch-dry. A final varnish is always recommended once it’s fully cured.
